If your ad account has been disabled, it can feel like hitting a roadblock in managing your business's online presence. Fortunately, there's a way to appeal this decision even if the usual appeal option isn't visible in your business support.

This article will walk you through the process step by step, ensuring you have all the information needed to attempt to get your ad account back in action.

Why Your Facebook Ad Account is Disabled

There are several potential reasons why a Facebook ad account might get disabled or banned.

Here are some common reasons:

  1. Policy Violations Facebook has strict advertising policies that all advertisers must follow. Violating these policies is a top reason for ad accounts being disabled. This includes things like misleading/false advertising, promoting illegal products/services, using profanity or sensational clickbait tactics in ads.
  2. Unusual Activity Facebook monitors ad accounts for any unusual or potentially fraudulent activity. Mass posting of ads in a very short period, using cloaked/masked URLs, or attempting to circumvent Facebook's systems can trigger an account suspension.
  3. Payment Issues If you have payment issues like a declined credit card or outstanding balances owed to Facebook, they may disable your ad account until the payment issues are resolved.
  4. Intellectual Property Violations Using copyrighted images, logos or trademarked brand assets that you don't have legal rights to in your Facebook ads can result in an ad account ban.
  5. Restricted Content Trying to advertise restricted products like weapons, adult/dating services, illegal drugs can promptly get your Facebook ad account disabled.
  6. Personal Attacks/Hate Speech Facebook prohibits ads containing direct threats, personal attacks, insults, hate speech or discrimination against protected groups.
  7. Too Many Accounts Operating multiple ad accounts by circumventing Facebook's one ad account per advertiser policy can result in a ban.

In many cases, the disabling is not permanent. Facebook provides an appeals process where you can request a review if you believe your account was disabled in error. Following all of Facebook's ad policies carefully is crucial to avoid potential account bans.

How to Appeal for Disabled Facebook Ad Account

First, head to your business manager settings and find the "ad accounts" section. Identify the disabled account you wish to appeal and click "See Details."

This action will redirect you to the business support home. Here, you might find that you don't have permission to request a review, or you might be asked for ID verification, which is a process best avoided due to its complexity.

Finding a Solution

If you feel stuck at this point, no worries—there's still hope. Look for the "Help" button at the bottom of the left bar on the business support home page. Clicking this will reveal a new sidebar to the right.

From there, select "Contact Support"

then choose "My ad account is disabled" to begin the appeal for your disabled ad account.

Completing the Appeal

Next, you'll need to select the asset you're appealing for. Hover over the ad account ID, click to copy it,

and then paste it into the appropriate field. After selecting the ad account, a window will pop up asking why you're requesting a review. Select "I am not sure which policy was violated" and submit it for review.

Keep in mind, the "Contact Support" option is generally only available to business managers associated with ad accounts that have a significant spending history. If this option isn't available to you, consider sharing the ad account with another business manager who has access to chat support.

Conclusion

Appealing a disabled ad account doesn't have to be a challenge. By following the steps outlined above, you can navigate the process more smoothly and increase your chances of reinstating your ad account.
